Yvonne Williams, Happy Steps

13:50 - 14:00

My name is Yvonne and I am the Founder and Creator of Happy Steps Products.

I have Mental Health and Learning Difficulties I also suffer with anxiety and depression.

I found out quite late in life that I have Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Learning Difficulties. Not knowing what my diagnosis was I have had to navigate myself into a world that has been complex and complicated. I had faced many challenges including discrimination. At one point not being able to leave my house. I use to tie a piece of cloth around wrist and write the words ‘I would be okay leaving my house’..But I was frightened.

As a sufferer with learning difficulties I found it hard to communicate effectively.

I began to design products – Happy Steps Calendars – to support my recovery. They are turning out to be best selling calendars

Other products include Body Maps and Dental Maps. By using these products you can be more assured that messages are being clearly communicated and understood by all parties.

I am happy to be here with you today for you to listen to my journey and story.

As an advocate for people who have a learning difficulty, I hope that Happy Steps Products allows sufferers not to be judged but listened to.

Clive and Ellie Rethman, Well Mind Stream Ltd

14:05 - 14:15

The project comprises Well Mind Stream and LSBU collaborating in developing an AI App called ‘TriageMent’.  This unique app enables people either at work or looking to find work but are experiencing mental health issues. Through a mental health assessment triage process, people who are experiencing issues can be assessed to determine the likelihood of any mental health conditions being prevalent e.g. Stress, Anxiety, ADHD, Low Self-Esteem, etc.  Consequently, should any issues be identified in terms of percentage likelihood (e.g. 55% probability of anxiety to low self-esteem), then TriageMent App can recommend potential routes to find solutions to the issue. This may be referring the individual to a suitable therapist, GP, etc.

Priti Patel, Meds on Time

14:40 - 14:50

Meds on Time brings together a digital medication adherence toolbox to support people with their medication management in the community.  The NHS spent £10.9 billion on prescriptions in the community in 2023/24  but studies show only 50% of people take their medication as intended.  Improving medication adherence supports better management of long-term conditions, reduces medication waste, increases capacity in the care system and reduces hospital admissions.

Meds on Time brings together 3 different support tools: CareCalls – a simple automated care call, YOURmeds – a smart medication management system that can be self-filled or filled by the pharmacy and Evondos – a secure pouch-based system that has video-calling capabilities.

Adult social care teams and hospital discharge teams are commissioning care calls to support people with their medication in the community. Introducing digital technologies early in the pathway of care helps people retain their independence, gives family and carers peace of mind, and increases capacity in the system as the care calls can be repurposed, providing a fourfold return on investment.
