Supporting South London business growth through innovation

About the vouchers

The Innovation Vouchers are an exciting opportunity designed to support businesses in developing new ideas, products or services. The intention is to create a valuable and meaningful pathway for businesses and academics to work together to find creative solutions to improve the communities.

The value of each voucher is £5,000. Businesses need to contribute 30% (£1,500 per voucher) match funding to the project, either in cash or in-kind. Funds can be used to fund research assistance, product development and testing, marketing, stakeholder and user groups engagement, consumables and equipment under £1,000, if a need is clearly articulated.

What Sectors do they cover?

Mental and physical health and wellbeing

Roehampton researchers have a wide range of expertise across all areas of healthy living, and considerable experience in designing, implementing and evaluating mental health interventions, gut health and nutrition, and impact of high temperatures on the body, including in the performance of professional athletes. We further work with organisations that have a focus on supporting the most vulnerable communities in our society, including organisations working with homelessness and survivors of violence.

Business sustainability and growth

Roehampton researchers are experienced in working with businesses and organisations of all sizes to transform their business practices, including how to embed greater sustainability, supporting the development of new products and services.

Green Skills and the built environment

Members of our recently launched Sustainable Engineering and Technology Centre have a wealth of expertise and experience to support projects focused on sustainable building design, construction and occupation, environmental assessment codes and standards, energy efficiency in buildings, Sustainable social housing, Renewable energy systems, Bioclimatic design Passive design strategies.

Who can apply?

The University of Roehampton is offering South London-based businesses the opportunity to collaborate with academics.

This support programme is relevant for all, from registered sole traders, start-ups and established businesses of any size to social enterprises and charities.

It is exclusive to those based in the South London boroughs of Croydon, Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton, Southwark, Lambeth and Wandsworth.

We are particularly keen to collaborate with businesses with diverse leadership to ensure that our innovation partnerships in South London are reflective of the region’s diverse communities.

This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, people and skills.
