Wherever possible, sustainability has been at the heart of every decision made with regards to the design and running of the Business, Innovation & Growth Summit 2023. The following details our choice of suppliers, materials, and venue, which have helped us keep this event’s carbon footprint as low as possible.
Responsible purchasing & use of sustainable materials
Event branding & stands
The event stands, on the whole, have been printed on Xanita board – a natural, sustainably engineered fibreboard manufactured from recycled paper products, including cardboard boxes. It is VOC free, 100% re-pulpable, and all components are classified as non-hazardous in accordance with the EEC Hazard Classification. Raw materials come from renewable sources. These will be reused or recycled post-event.
Where not printed on Xanita, posters and table talkers, we have chosen uncoated materials that contain recycled materials.
Badges
The badges are made of FSC Certified responsibly sourced, recyclable card and do not require a holder. These will be recycled post-event in normal paper waste recycling. The badge clips will be reused at future events.
Online delegate materials
To further prevent waste, no printed delegate materials have been produced. The delegate pack is provided online for easy access via delegates’ devices.
Event catering
We have chosen specific catering suppliers due to their sustainability credentials and social impact.
Lunch: Homemade curries
A Twickenham-based supplier, Homemade Curries is committed to sourcing and only using local produce. They serve authentic and innovative Indian food using the freshest ingredients.
Evening reception: Manny’s Kitchen CIC
A local social enterprise which as well as providing corporate catering runs a community kitchen, which provides healthy and affordable meals to those in need in the local community.
Cups
The cups that you drink from today are made from recycled materials and will be recycled after use.
Furniture Supplier
Supplier: ECO Furniture Hire
Following circular economy principles, we have hired any required furniture from a London-based supplier.
Venue choice
The Exchange was chosen as the venue due to its excellent rail and bus transport links, helping us to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the event by encouraging delegates to use public transport only.
Showcasing Net Zero products & services
The event will signpost delegates to an innovative range of tools, created by a range of companies and organisations, which will provide the tools and know-how to reduce their impact on the environment.
We will also be asking delegates to make a pledge as to how they will be reducing their carbon footprint, which we hope will lead to behaviour and mindset changes.
