Meet the Project Manager championing people-centred research across South West London

The South West London (SWL) Research Support Network is entering an exciting new chapter with the appointment of Monique Taratula-Lyons as its new Project Manager.

Joining the team in April as a Local Authority Research Practitioner (LARP), Monique works across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils and the South West London Integrated Care Board (ICB). As Project Manager, Monique will help drive research engagement, supporting the network’s cafés, events and partnerships while creating new opportunities for collaboration and shared learning.

With a passion for inclusive research and community engagement, Monique is keen to build on the network’s success by bringing together an even broader range of voices from across South West London.

“I would like to grow the network so that it continues to be a space where people can share ideas, learn from each other and work together in meaningful ways,” said Monique. “I’m particularly interested in bringing together people from different roles, organisations and backgrounds so that the network reflects the wide range of voices involved in research.”

Monique brings a wealth of local government research experience to the role. Before joining South West London, she spent almost four years at Islington Council, including three years as a Public Health Research and Insight Analyst, where she supported research designed to deliver tangible benefits for local communities.

Her research journey began during her Master’s degree in Public Health, when she explored young women’s perceptions of cervical screening before receiving their first invitation. The project reinforced the importance of ensuring that people’s experiences are heard and represented in research, a principle that continues to shape her work today.

As the Research Support Network continues to grow, Monique is looking forward to developing new cafés, events and networking opportunities that connect researchers, practitioners and community partners across South West London.

“I would really like to hear from people about what they want to see from the network,” she added. “By working together, we can make sure it reflects the interests, experiences and ambitions of the people it serves.”

Whether you’re already part of the network or looking to get involved for the first time, Monique is keen to hear your ideas for future events, collaborations and activities as the network continues to grow. You can get in touch with Monique via email or LinkedIn.
