BIG Growth – Generative AI for 3D modelling and design prototyping

11:00 - 16:00 | 5 February 2026 | LSBU Hub, 116 London Rd, Elephant and Castle, SE1 6NJ

This beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop explores how prompt-based generative AI can be used to create 3D objects.

The session will look at both the advantages and the limitations of using generative AI for rapid prototyping, and consider how these tools might be applied in teaching, learning, and innovation contexts.

Using the AI tool Luma AI alongside the 3D modelling software Blender, participants will create a small interactive prototype that can be opened on their mobile phones.

You will learn how to:

  • Use prompt-based generative AI tools to produce 3D objects
  • Import and refine these objects in Blender
  • Export your 3D objects as AR prototypes
  • View and interact with your prototype using your mobile device

After this hands-on session, you’ll walk away with:

  • An understanding of the core principles of prompt-based generative AI
  • The ability to generate simple 3D objects using generative AI
  • The know-how on importing, editing, and optimising AI-generated models within Blender
  • The knowledge to be able to recognise the current limitations and ethical considerations of generative AI tools in creative and educational contexts

… and so much more.
