In the cost-of-living crisis, it is more important than ever that Londoners can upskill and boost their earnings, to help ease the financial pressures that so many are facing.

Community organisations play a vital role in supporting this mission. The Mayor of London has committed to making adult education more accessible and to building a fairer city for everyone, ensuring all Londoners who need it can get into training and develop their skills.

However, it can be daunting and confusing at first to identify appropriate skills courses with so many different courses, qualifications and training providers to choose from.

To assist with this aspiration, StartUp Croydon are excited to announce our new Creative Community Skills project funded through the Mayor of London’s Skills for Londoners Community Outreach Programme which aims to support individuals who may have had barriers to gaining qualifications or accessing formal education to understand, identify and access adult education courses and training especially in basic numeracy skills, English language and digital skills.

Aimed at supporting people over 19 in Croydon looking to gain employment or create a business in the digital or creative industries, our support project will provide:

• outreach events across Croydon to inform individuals about initiatives and courses available to help support them locally and across London
• opportunities to hear from individuals who have gained employment or started their own business in the digital creative industries
• an individual 1-1 session to find out more about aspirations, current levels of skills and qualifications and help identify the most appropriate training courses including numeracy, English language, digital skills courses
• follow up 1-1 sessions to support you further where possible

You will also get to find out about the support that Croydon-based and pan-London training providers can offer with increasing knowledge and skill levels to help you secure employment or even become your own boss!
